What can I do with this space?

There is a rock wall, plus a platform that previous owners built up that looks super ugly. I want to make it either functional or pretty (or both), keeping in mind I have small children, so the edge with a large drop at the moment is a giant hassle to actually using my yard. Bonus dog in photos
