Previous owners cut down half of this plum tree. Will it survive?

It was cut at least six years ago (before we bought the property). The main trunk seems healthy, and it bears a lot of fruit. But the stumps are starting to rot, and I'm worried it will affect the healthy part of the tree. Will it be ok? Is there anything we should do to "fix" it?

Yes. You can put in posts that support the trunk, so that if the trunk is leaning any more to the right, the post will be there that the trunk can lean onto.
