Native Plant Gardening

Flower bed off patio

Need planting/design suggestions with north Texas native plants. We want to use rocks/pea gravel. Should be drought resistant.

I think the [Native Plant Society of Texas](https://www.npsot.org/) would be a great resource to explore native plants that appeal to you and fit the ecological niche you live in. They have a page on natives and on where to source plants and seed. Texas has many ecoregions, I just learned from their website, so you can find your ecoregion and look up plants specific to where you live. It looks like the northernmost part of the state is either high plains, or southwestern tablelands. You can then select low or very low water usage and see what comes up. Be honest with yourself if you truly want to avoid all watering, as the most drought tolerant plants can look a bit scrubby. My “dry” plants get very little hand watering once established (I will water during the first year and any time the plant looks stressed from lack of water.
