Any way to recover heavy root damage to my Loquat potted plant?

Recently moved house and had to take my plants with me. This loquat has been absolutely thriving for the past 5 years despite me doing NOTHING aside from watering to maintain it. It never produced flowers or fruit but was just nice to look at.

When i had to pull it out to relocate it, the roots had come out of the pot, and thick roots had sunk deep into the ground. I had to use a fair amount of force to twist and remove it, ripping those big roots out in order to move it from the old property. It’s been about 2 months since i moved and the health of the plant has deteriorated rapidly, even after fertilising and giving a healthy dose of seasol. Its consistently losing leaves and becoming brown when it was always bright green

Is there any way for me to save this tree?

It needs to be in the ground. Dig a hole and give it a feed.

My friend, if you grow a new loquat seed it will grow to that height again within a year or so. My husband has tried to murder ours down to the root many times because it was in the way of our tree house until he gave up and now it’s three metres tall after three years.

He’s just given in and now is growing all of the seeds it drops in pots and I could start a loquat farm at this point.

However, you might need to put it in the ground, I don’t know how they grow in pots.

Could be worth trying to propagate via a cutting as an extra chance to save it
    – Take 15-20cm from a happy spot (cut at an angle so it’s a sharp point)
    – Cut leaves to 10% of the original size or remove most of the leaves
    – Dip to 1-2cm past the top of the cut surface in rooting hormone ideally or honey
    – After dipping, plant in soil and keep moist and shaded until you see new growth after some weeks)
