What should I reasonably expect to pay to have this removed? (Minneapolis)

We had a storm blow through and unfortunately one of my trees had a branch nearly snap off. Curious if anyone here would know generally what I should be paying a professional to remove this?

1k I guess. Kinda weird cause it’s storm damage, but 1 limb and pretty straightforward.

Can’t really get anything done for under 1000$ these days it seems. However from the photo , that doesn’t look extremely troublesome (it could be leaning directly overtop of the house) .

It’s a large expense for someone to drive out to you , get geared up , get to work, clean up and travel home or to the next site.
If you have other jobs/limbs that you’d like trimmed , it’s your opportunity to get multiple cut when someone is coming to deal with that .

If that makes sense , a lot of expenses are incurred before a single limb is cut.

Good job for a 2 man climbing crew. A dying art in the tree biz, but they can beat the big bucket dudes on jobs like these.

they will probably insist on having a truck with a cherry picker because of that height which means you don’t get away with only having to pay a one man crew. I would say $1,500 based on that. Everything is expensive now.

Rock. Rope. Truck. Drive. However much a rock and a rope cost. Fuck paying 1k.

This looks like an ash (Fraxinus pennsylvanica). If it has not consistently been treated by an arborist for Emerald Ash Borer (an invasive insect from Asia that has exploded in our area) …

… you are dealing with a bigger problem… the whole tree is going to die. Forget the limb. Just have the whole thing removed.

Ash trees are going down all over the twin cities from this insect.

Looking at the foliage it looks like it is thinning. It is probably too late to treat this tree for EAB.

I would bet the farm this big structural stem snapped because the EAB damage is already severe on the inside and causing massive internal damage and stress.

Sorry to be the bearer (or borer) of bad news friend. Just don’t waste your money … don’t spend $1000 and then remove in a year or two for $3000 or something.
