Isopod help/concerns

So I just set up a isopod enclosure and I added all the basic stuff such as good substrate, Spagnum moss, leaf litter, bark, calcium, and springtails but last time I set this up about 2 years ago I didn’t do near as much research and my isopods dried out after 3 days. This time I made the hole a lot smaller and am misting the enclosure a lot more, but I still don’t want them to dry out or the springtails to die (I have never kept springtails outside of their culture) so if you have any advice or if I’m doing anything wrong please tell me. (Also the leaves I had collected from outside I had boiled them and left them to dry for a few days and they have this weird maple syrup like film on the top, should I be concerned about this?)
