started to split so he asked if we had some extra threaded rod at work to try to pull back together. For the most part it worked extra there’s still a little gap. Will this grow back together or is there something else to try? Thanks in advance

Why not ask this question before you go putting this type of effort in? The rods should be staggered at the very least but this is a band aid on a tree trying to tell you its not happy in this earthly plane lol
It is a matter of time, this is just a band aid. Is it close to anything that it could crush on the way down?
