I have patches of grass that have sprung up over the summer that look very different to the rest of the lawn. Is this just a different strain of grass, or a weed? Any suggestions for fixing it, if it is a weed?
Looks like couch grass, so a bit of column A, a bit of column B. It does spread so if you want it out you’re going to have to dig it out and follow the roots all the way to stop it regrowing.

Weed grass yep, you’ll need to dig that out, level with topsoil and plant a similar blend of lawn seed over.
May be a touch late in the year now depending where you are.
