You can see that clumps of leaves are falling off the ends of branches. That’s been happening all summer. 1 tree is practically barren of leaves at this point. I’m afraid the other is heading in that direction. I did cut all the vines at the bottom a few weeks ago which is why you see all the brown stuff in the middle. I really don’t know how old these trees are, but easily 50+ years. I don’t want to lose them if they can be saved.

Are these Elm trees? If not, do you know what species they are?
Edit: Actually I think I see opposite branching on the twigs… Ash?
