Had an arborist out who recommended I remove the smaller tree, wondering where I should stop though. Should I keep cutting? Should I do a vertical cut in the smaller stump and remove as much as I can? Wondering what other people have done in this situation.

The arborist should have recommended subordinating the smaller leader rather than cutting it that low. I would just leave it the way it is right now.
Edit: It does look like it’s a separate tree rather than a second leader. Still, I would not cut it further.
