What is wrong with my plant?

Bought this from someone else; noticed they had a mealy bug infestation at first; after a while they were gone but this happened! What do I do?

I water this plant everyday, and put this plant out by the balcony that receives partial light most of the time.

Idk what kind of plant this is, but I’m not sure any plant needs to be watered every day. It does look like scale pests. I’ve never had to battle those, but you can google and find some good info.

Scale for sure. Wipe with alcohol using a tip or toothbrush and pick them off. Keep out of the sun after wiping because the alcohol can make leaves sensitive to sun. Some people recommend an insecticidal soap instead of alcohol – I haven’t done it that way, but I see it in here a lot. Also, got off the leaves that are heavily infested like the one you’re showing.
