My First Water Propagated Raven ZZs are Rooting!!

As a close friend of mine had been moving away, I’d asked her for a cutting of one of her many ginormous Raven ZZ plants. This way, there’s still something I can physically nurture within our friendship during her busy endeavors into law school.

I heard ZZs take quite some time to propagate, but holy moly I was not prepared for the actual timeline! I’ve been changing out the water for these guys every 3 weeks and keeping them under a grow light for the past 2 months. Well, they’ve suddenly been sprouting roots that have grown quickly!!

I’m so excited to see these guys get to a point where I can transfer them to soil! Of course, this is already an incredibly special plant, so I’m elated to see them thriving!

Yes it takes them about that long to prop new roots. Congratulations on your new plants. After you plant them don’t water them too much, and suggest that you use media like coco peat for them. Water once a week/ even less. They are adorable plants indeed, especially the ZZ raven.
