Cactus

Seedlings check

First-time trying to grow some cacti from seed. I've got these 3 months old austrocactus, grown in natural light (really happy they've survived up to know). Is this brownish color normal? They used to be greener a month ago. For the rest they seem to be doing fine. Thanks in advance!

I’ve never grown austrocactus, but when my Trichocereus seedlings get like this it usually means that they usually aren’t long for the world.

Deep green is a good sign for seedlings. When they change color, get reddish, or translucent it means they are undergoing some kind of stress. It could be too much light or too much moisture.

I still don’t have it down to a complete science yet. Maybe someone else will weigh in.
