Should I be concerned?

I got this small barrel cactus lile a week ago. Left it to hangout I just repotted it today and noticed this white spot the roots were healthy otherwise.

I just gave it a good watering after the repot. I am keeping up under a window SW facing window for now until it gets colder here in Canada where I have an indoor light away from the cold windows.

Thank you for posting to r/plantclinic!

It looks like you may be asking about a cactus or succulent. In addition to any advice you receive here, please consider visiting r/cactus r/succulents for more specialized care advice.

A common problem with cacti and succulents is etiolation. This is when a succulent stretches or becomes leggy. Reply with “!etiolation” for advice.

that soil looks insanely organic, i think your problem might be that he’s sitting in water. try repotting him in a 50/50 mix of perlite and original soil

That looks like a big hole that is probably damaging the plant. I will agree with the other commenter that this soil is not good for this plant, and seeing this spot was a great catch. Unfortunately it’s very bad to have an open hole in a cactus. Is this the same side because I am confused? There’s a spot then it looks almost like scale in the other picture.
