Well, TIL that black spot can also affect aloe!

My roses get black spot constantly, googled it, and it turns out aloe can get it as well.

Its an annoying fungus. For the roses, you just need to cut back and defoliate everywhere with the spots. Don’t leave a single leaf with a single black spot. Bag up the infected leaves and toss them, if you leave them near the roses, the spores will just reinfect them. Keep checking back every day, even if you think you got it all, it will probably still spread a bit more. It can be like a week-long process of pruning and defoliating every day before you really get rid of it. If it’s really bad, you probably just want to cut back to the ground and let it regrow.

For the aloe, I’m not sure. I would google it and find some answers on that.

To prevent it in the future, moisture is your main enemy. The fungus takes hold when the rose leaves stay moist for too long. If you’re watering them, water the ground and try not to get much on the leaves. You also want to prune heavily in spring and throughout the year to make sure there’s plenty of airflow going through so it can dry out easily. You don’t want a dense tangle of stems. Ideally, you’ll create a cup-shaped shrub of upright stems with some open space in the center for airflow.
