Fiddle Leaf Fig

Please tell me this isn’t root root🤞

A touch of background.

I got it in May, it was thriving great. We moved in July and it was fine it was shortly after that the leaves in pics #3&4 got these brown spots but no other leaves were affected and they never spread further. In late July, a couple weeks after the move, I did repot due to the original pot being too small.

I got a moisture meter and have been watering about ever week and a half to two weeks. It's in a West facing window and the last watering was about a week and a half ago.

There's is some new growth coming up so that's a good thing but I have noticed the new growth has slowed quite a bit since the move. Since I repotted I have started using a liquid fertilizer purvived.

Just today I had my first leaf come off (it popped off while I was examining it). Also want to add, while I do have it in a self watering pot, I am not using that feature.

Please tell me this is under watering vs over watering. It is next to a floor vent, but I don't really have another window that would be fitting that also doesn't have a vent nearby so I can't do much about that. What does it need from me!?

That’s the lower leaf right? Mine does the same thing. I don’t think it’s root rot. Expert parents can suggest better in this.

Nah. It’s just what fiddle figs do. Water schedule and water type causes this. More consistent water schedule is key.

Hey there! It does appear to be root rot based in the ink shaped blotches. What kind of soil is it in currently? I believe the culprit is the self watering pot. You really need a detached saucer so that you can water it then soak up the runoff. It’s probably sitting in water. It may not be receiving enough light. You can download a plant light app. I’ll send a link to mine which has been pretty accurate. It has a Fiddle Leaf Fig setting which is helpful. You can pull it out and smell the roots. That’s usually the sign plus the mushy roots that are visible. Hilton Carter has a great video on their care. I can recommend soil and tips if it’s root root. https://fiddleleaffigplant.com/root-rot-in-fiddle-leaf-fig/
