sun stress or something else??

hi all,

i got this baby for $10 at a flea market about two weeks ago, and i have just noticed that it started forming these little spots on the underside of the leaves. they were a dark brown/red color until i scratched it off and it discolored the leaves where the spots were.

i haven’t had the chance to inspect the roots thoroughly yet but it looks like the roots that are sticking out of the bottom are rotting at the tips so that could be part of the problem.

also, it is currently living 5 feet away from a west facing window, and in the later day it’s getting direct sunlight

i have watered it twice since i’ve gotten it, it’s pretty much bursting out of its pot so it has dried out pretty quickly each time.

it’s been living at my partner’s house since i got it so i could quarantine it from my other plants so there’s no worries about it infecting anything else, but any advice would be helpful. thank you!!

I think it may have thrips 😭 they have been SO common this year, or maybe I’m just now noticing their presence on a larger scale bc I had them myself. The small holes forming are tell tale signs; as well as an otherwise healthy plant acting sick for seemingly no reason.
