So a little over 30 years ago, I attended my first Orchid Show. I don’t remember much about the show itself, but I do remember they had a orchid tank of about a 4ft cube fulled with blooming plants, and moss and it looked stunning. Granted, it was likely these plants were not grown in this tank, and it was just a set piece for the show, but it’s memory has stuck with me all these years, and I’ve always wanted to build myself something similar. However, there has always been something that stopped me, whether it was space, cost, a upcoming planned move, time, or any other issues that stopped me. Well, now I have a good job, a house that I’ve lived in for 20 years, no intentions on moving, and earlier this year, I finally had a design plan for this project. I still have some details to the build process to finish up before moving into the planting phase, but soon, oh so soon…
Oh, and as I am an Engineer, the controls are all automated. Again a few bugs to work out, but otherwise a completely automated system for lights, humidity, temperature, airflow and more…
