September Garden Tour & Greenhouse Update | Perennial Garden

In this September garden tour (2024) , we’ll take you around our cottage garden located on the east coast of Denmark (zone 8a), where we showcase a range of late-season perennials, annuals, and newly planted areas that are still thriving.

From vibrant Zinnias to the rich colors of Salvia viridis, we’ll explore how we maintain color and interest in your garden well into fall. See how we handle common garden challenges like keeping slugs away from Dahlias, and discover what’s growing in our greenhouse.

Plus, we’ll offer tips on what to plant in early autumn for year-round garden success. And don’t miss what we’re going to plant in a friend’s new garden!

  1. I'm glad it's not just me with the crazy helianthus, our new garden is absolutely full of it and I'm planning to dig it all out. That and some alstroemeria that seem to have just taken over!

  2. Hi guys, I grew salvia viridis from seed this year and I love it. Thanks to your recommendation last year. Lars thank you for the chuckle, chubby seeds 🤣🤣 love it 🥰

  3. Garden is still looking fabulous. I now know when to stop deadheading thanks to you. Love the story about growing a Marigold for your mum Allen. We grew cress in an egg shell! Lars, you are the king of seed collecting.

  4. С большим удовольствием смотрю ваши видео, ничего не понимаю, что вы говорите, просто любуюсь и наслаждаюсь цветами. Большой привет вам из Крыма ❤❤❤

  5. Thanks for this lovely video. Interestingly, when the name of your city came up at the beginning of the programme I realised that we almost moved there in 1989! In the end we moved to Den Haag in the Netherlands for a few years. Thanks for your encouragement to move plants. Finally, yesterday, we had good weather (south of London) and I 'tamed' a load of Alchemia mollis and passed lots to my son who is growing his garden – very satisfying! By the way, I remember my Danish guide book describing Danish as a 'disease of the throat' in terms of the pronunciation 🙂 Thanks again 🙂

  6. Hello from the Lake District UK. I love your videos and even though I've been gardening for years I learn new stuff. Thanks for the monthly tours, keep them coming xx

  7. I grew “envy” zinnias this year. My husband actually picked them out for the garden this year. Never would I have chosen a green zinnia but it actually gives such a pretty almost antique feeling to my bouquets. I absolutely love it, and if your into zinnias I can’t recommend it enough!

  8. Just a thought, if instead of referring to us as ‘them’ (ie shall we show them…) if you referred to us as ‘you’ it makes us feel more involved (ie let me show you…). It’s more personal. Don’t know if other people would agree with me, but as I say, just a thought. I do love your videos and I’m learning a lot!

  9. Hi! Is it too late to autumn sow perennials now in the South of Sweden?
Love your channel by the way!

  10. Hi, always look forward to your videos coming out. Did you have to stake many plants this year and do you do a Chelsea Chop to stop plants from getting too leggy, especially the late flowering perennials?

  11. Kiora from Auckland, NZ. I’ve been enjoying your YouTube channel for some time now. Love how you interact with each other and also just how passionate you both are about your piece of heaven. It’s always fun taking a virtual trip to Denmark and enjoying your garden. Thank you 🙏
