Arboriculture

I posted before with no response. I need help!

This tree looms over my son’s room, and I need to know if it’s OK. It has a wound that happened before I got here (I moved in four years ago) a lot of bugs recently moved into the wound and it’s always wet/bleeding. The tree had ivy growing 3/4 of the way up that I removed at the base. IS THE TREE OK?
Should I have it removed/call an arborist?

Call an arborist and see what they suggest.

The ivy will kill it. What will it land on if it tips over. If it were me, I would reduce it’s size and plan to replace.

If you have to ask you know the answer… call an ISA certified arborist for an eval.

I strongly suggest professional removal. If you have big winds, I’d spend the money to have taken out. I learned the hard way.

I’d be getting that removed to be honest, it’s rotten at the base and close to the house. Those two things are not a god combination.
