Grafting Plants

How many grafts can I get from this?

I recently acquired this piece of Chemical shamans dick and my plan was to graft it to 2 PCs and 2 grandi. If this was yours, how would cut it up to get the most out of it?

Cut in half horizontal and half vertical so you’ll have 4 slices and easy to place and cross vascular rings

    Direct quote from CactusCatalogger
“ Slab grafts are the most economical and use less scion material than the others. Pup grafts use a little more material, but generally will have more areoles. Both slab grafts and puck grafts will produce new growth in the form of pups from the areoles. Tip grafts continue to grow as normal, but may etiolate as the union forms. It’s also worth noting you can make a bunch of slabs and pucks from a single cutting, but you only get one tip.”

There’s more than one way to scan a cat. I’m afraid you could get a bunch of graphs out of this very nice looking specimen.

You could get 10+ if you wanted to

every areole is a potential graft if you are experienced at grafting.

  6. I see a butt, four nice slabs and a tip. So 6

  7. It can be finicky. That size I would do tip, butt and t fat slabs

Depending on stock thickness I would do what you are planning. Butt, tip, 2 slabs… Maybe 4 slabs.

3 pucks and a tip or 6 slabs and a tip or could do a shit load of single areole grafts and a tip
