Anyone know what kind of caterpillar this is? SF Bay Area, CA
Saw this guy on my columbine plant. I also have yarrow, beach asters, heuchera, CA poppies, baby blue eyes, bird's eyes, coyote mint, and CA fuchsia growing nearby.
Most likely a skipper butterfly caterpillar. At least that’s what Google said. The only other insects that seems to rely heavily on Columbine are leafminers and saw flies
