Did you know that the PSP sold 80 million units roughly, or that you could buy The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy on UMD so you could watch peak fiction on the go? Yeah, you probably did, but there’s still a relative treasure trove of lesser known PSP facts that deserve to be shared with the world.

PSP gives me nostalgia of walking into GameStation as a teen and seeing 17 pre-owned copies of The Self-Destruction Of The Ultimate Warrior.

I slept on the PSP quite a bit, mostly due to budget, and I regret that.
After watching this channel, all of the vultures outside of my home started wearing Tophats & Monocles aa well as sipping Earl Grey.
Man… bring back the 2000s. What a time to be alive. Where gaming was still entertaining and innovative. Now things are just copy and paste clones of each other.
Recently dusted off my 1000 and took it apart and deep cleaned it – only right to give this beauty the love it deserves. I'd forgotten how premium this thing feels – it really still impresses just holding it. The only downside is the dreadful analog stick. I won't call it a nub – it's one of those words that just feels wrong..in a smut based way of course 😉
Man, RIP Lik-sang
I love all CV videos, but these fact videos are my absolute favorite.
Everything I already know about the PSP I learned from you guys.
Remote play between PS3 and PSP was maintained, it's just that certain games had it… I played Blaz Blue on PS3, a game that was almost at the end of the PS3's life, via remote play on my PSP… that was the only game I had that supported it… on the back of the game boxes it should have indicated that the game was compatible with remote play.
By the way, I am one of those who collects, today in 2024, that Ero UMD that you subtly mention… XD
You could play your PSP on a HDTV. Just like the Switch; I'd play on PSP at work (I'm old) portable then I'd get home and plug it into my TV and continue playing. Always seen it as a "hybrid console" but because it doesn't come with a "Dock" it doesn't count🙄
Since loading screens are a no no now, games are not compressed at all. Hence 100GB+ game installs now. No textures are compressed like they use to because we were limited to Carts and CDs. Ever wonder why your game download is less than half the install size? Yep, its compressed to save bandwidth.
Those metal gear 3d glasses looks super weird, I love it!
Hahahahahaha LOL "being a producer in Hollywood" part made me lmao
YES TITANFALL 3 ASAP
Something you missed, There was a GPS antenna you could buy for the psp and a umd with Europe maps, making the psp an actual GPS back in the day with pretty good 3D. I got the antenna but I live in the states and the maps on the umd were for Europe, so I had to download my own map of the usa and put it on my prostick duo. It did work as a gps in my car pretty well. I had it mounted on my dash and i was able to use it as an all in 1 primitive infotainment system that would play music and videos and of course, gps. The psp was truly ahead of its time.
re: TiltFX – It came with a program that hacked the PSP that didn't work on custom firmware. It also required you to enter a one-time key that came with the hardware, and stopped working once you ran the install program. So it was tied to 1 PSP, and was lost if that PSP was hacked. I asked them for another key since you can't pirate the hardware and they said no. So I never got to use it
re: MGS AC!D2 / TobidAcid – I played MGS 2 on VitaTV, on my PS 3DTV and got the 3D effect working on the 3DTV. Just in the wrong aspect ratio
re: control remapping – It still pisses me off we can't invert Y even with the $300 CDN Edge controller. I have 2 PS5 games that lack invert Y, and multiple for PS3. On PS3 I can use the Titan Two to add invert Y, but they blocked it on PS5.
re: PSP go – the lack of UMDs meant no used game sales, which is why retailers themselves boycotted it. So it did poorly in part cause they refused to sell it
