Rare Houseplants

Woo new growth on my TC Musa Nono Pink. It’s seems to have survived deflasking 💪🏼

Stoked to see a new leaf poking out of this little guy today. I was worried about the condition of the roots in particular when I deflasked it. I've gone at it with a very similar approach to how I care for my Macodes petola jewel orchid and it seems to be taking!

This has been my approach:

  • It's in 100% sphagnum moss
  • Sealed glass vase
  • Gently heated from below with a reptile heat cable (I'm in Scotland it'll need it through winter)
  • small amount of water in bottom of vase for cable to evaporate and create high humidity environment with an upturned water tray to stand the pot out of the water.
  • orchid pot with extra drilled holes for airflow to the roots
  • Under a grow light, though not particularly intense
  • Near a West facing window
  • I added springtails to reduce any potential mold

Now let's just hope the variegation holds 🤞
