These are the remnants of my schefflera arboricola that died from a mealy bug infestation. I quickly soaked this portion in 70% ethanol and am submerging the stem in water next to lots of light. Is it too late, or does he have a chance?

unfortunately, no. this is just a section of one compound leaf (with two leaflets). there is no bud to produce a new plant from.
