I am a person who has constantly struggled mental health battles. When I am working on trees, the outside world shuts down. All the noise is gone and I am at peace.
After dropping out of college 3 times – I finally have a passion, and that is nature – thanks to bonsai. I want to major in environmental studies to help preserve nature around the world. To me, that is how I can repay this wonderful ancient art and hobby.
I encourage everyone to study something they are passionate about.
Well, now back to the post.
These are the projects I have been working on.
Picture 1: a Chinese Elm. I am trying to make a triangular shape for this tree.
Picture 2: a variegated Portulacaria Afra. I am trying to make this into a nice cascade. I might repot it next year.
Picture 3: this is a pot I made to represent my Native American tribe, the Caiquetio of Aruba. I am planning on planting a Portulacaria Afra in it temporarily. It will become home to an Aruban tree in the future. Perhaps, a Divi Divi.
Picture 4,5,6: 2 small Portulacaria Afra in a handmade pot that I made.
Picture 7: a Portulacaria Afra. I want it to grow more so I can develop its pads.
Picture 8: a Portulacaria Afra in training.
Picture 9: is a tree that was given to me by a fellow member in my bonsai club. I do not know how to style it, but I gave it some wires and anchor/guide wire.
