Carnivorous Plants

Dormancy for dummies?

This will be the third winter I’ve had this fly trap & second year for the pitcher plant and I have yet to put it them dormancy. I initially wanted to plant them in my yard that has a natural bog with tons of spaghnam moss, but I’m so far too chicken. I have an unheated attached garage that I’d like to use and I’ve read a bit about it but I supposed I’m still nervous they’re going die and need to be reassured what I think I should do is what I should do. The garage doesn’t get much light, enough thru the garage door windows to see during the day. The temperature stays between 5-15 Celsius during the winter. Can I just keep it damp or let it dry out some? Is the minimum 3 months fine or does leaving it longer have any benefits? Is the minimum temperature where it’s needs to stay at or is just low nights good enough? Is it going to turn black? If it does should I cut the black parts off??
