Both my alocasia cuprea and regal shield are growing very wonky. The cuprea started out totally fine then grew a MASSIVE leaf, got really tall, fell and turned into a curlicue. The next leaf is also abnormally leggy. The regal shield I got as a plug and has had crazy growth ever since. It keeps growing that tall. I’ve had both under grow lights so it’s not like it’s starved for light. The pots are still an appropriate size for the roots and neither one are growing out of the bottom.
I didn’t think this was normal for either of these types but I very well may be wrong. Any ideas? Do they need less light? I was even thinking about transferring to semi hydro because I’ve heard they do well in that.
