Moved into this house a year ago. Since then I’ve learned about trees and how important an exposed root flare is to their health. So I finally got around to digging around this pecan tree. But….i keep digging and digging and see no sign of a flare 😭 I’m not sure how old this tree is but how can a tree buried this deep survive this long?? How much deeper should I dig?

Dig til you find the flare, sadly. No clue how old the tree is, but eventually the soil will rot the trunk causing it to stall.
