Neglected Umbrella plant

My neighbor gave me this very neglected Umbrella plant. It was in bone dry and very little soil, roots were completely dried out and shriveled, lots of branches needed to be trimmed away.
It still has a lot of green, so I'm hopeful it'll recover, but will this tree straighten up eventually? It is too stiff to manipulate straight with a pole.
Any suggestions other than what I'm already doing, which is mainly waiting for improvement. It's in a north-east facing window right now, fresh soil that I soaked well, but haven't watered since.
I see the bottom leaves are beginning to take in water, so that's good. I hope the rest start to improve as well.

It’s not ever going to straighten up. You might be better off making a propagation.

The pot looks really large for what I imagine the size of the root mass. I’m worried it’s going to end up over watered and with root rot.
