What’s wrong with my Japanese Aralia?

Hello, my Japanese Aralia is getting some dry discolouration of its leaves.
It’s in a position of mostly full morning sun (for a great hours), but only till approx lunchtime. It gets some shelter from frost here.
The dark patches are dry and crinkly. Watered semi-regularly, but not overwatered (I think).
The lower leaves look okay, so is it getting burnt by the sun?
Thanks!

Autocorrect – full sun for a *few* hours.

This is a strange one for me.
I know this as Fatsia Japonica and as an outdoor plant only (UK).

Although it is considered a shade loving plant, it may be that it needs more light ……. Especially if your widows have strong UV resistance.
