We bought a townhouse with a small courtyard and tiny stretch of dirt as you can see. It had 5 plants that the previous tenant had cut down and covered in dirt that i have been slowly removing (see last image). The roots are long and the bulbs are huge.
I'm wanting to have raised garden beds for veggies, a fairy garden and car tracks for my toddlers. Am I alright to just cover it in weed matting and rocks plus a bit more prep or will these roots be an issue?

You could instead use wicker beds then you would only need to level the ground
