Nanking Cherry help!

Hello all

Recently moved into this house and I'm pretty sure this is a Nanking Cherry Shrub.

The previous owner passed so I can't be sure it is Nanking, but it does grow red berries in the summer (forgot to get pics of berries of course) and two ID apps have said with 80% certainty that it is NC.

We obtained some pictures from the neighbor that show the bush was around 15ish years ago, so it's very well established.

it's currently 8-9 feet tall.

Anyone here who can help me figure out how much I should prune?

I want to prune it back… like way back.

I was hoping to cut it to the ground about 2-3 feet high to let it grow back more full as there's lots of dead branches in the center. Will that harm it?

Any help would be so appreciated.

Thank you!
