The U.S. is ahead of Europe on Automotive software. Really! Take Tesla out of the U.S. group of auto manufacturers and what automotive software development do you have?
These rankings are BS. It is true that, as the largest (pure) electric automaker, Tesla has been able to take large steps on most technical fronts – motors, electronics, software, price optimised component redesign and revamps of vehicle construction methods aligned to implementation of advanced production systems in leading edge factories (that drives down costs and lifts production rates) – in a well coordinated fashion within intervals resembling the tight product update schedules of technology companies.
There are glaring areas where that isn't true, however. In battery technology Tesla's planned domination has fizzled. Not only do CATL and BYD remain far ahead of Tesla but almost every serious EV maker in China is ahead of Tesla on batteries, Geely and GAC for instance. China just has better battery engineers.
The other obvious error is Gartner hasn't really thought this through. The EV pecking order today is the Chinese EV industry as a whole is in first place and Tesla is in second.

Lucids claim was regarding efficience, nothing to do with owerall digital perfomence.
Here is why I did not get a Tesla car:
• I think that it is unsafe to use the central screen a lot whilst driving. The information is also off to one side and not near the line of driving sight.
• No heads-up display
• Lack of buttons for most common needs
• Poor visibility out of the back using the mirror
• Minimalist interior not to my taste and not as good as competitors
• Tesla 3 is smaller than I wanted
• The Tesla Y is more expensive than my budget, and not as good a car as some competitors.
• I do 95% of my charging at home so the better Tesla charging system is not particularly important to me.
• Some competitors’ software is catching up and is now excellent.
• Tesla is not compatible with Android Auto.
• I used to admire Musk for his environmental goals and achievements but now thoroughly dislike his recent shameful associations and utterances plus space adventurism. So I no longer want to support his companies in any way.
• Tesla car insurance is costly
I bought a Kia Niro 4 EV in the UK.
These rankings are meaningless.
Why do you quote such trash?
And if you would make higher quality video once a week instead of just quoting some media sites that would be more helpful.
Tesla sucks major salty gonads.
Toyota is going to survive because it's government protected.
But lots of Japanese automakers might be out of luck.
BYD just passed Honda for crying out loud.
Toyota close to land rover score says it all. Can't make any decent software as they are fully dependent on their suppliers. Disaster is coming soon.

Any clarification on and banning of EVs in underground car parks in large parts of this week. Also the huge grid problems soruces personally know can not charge there cars. Doesn’t matter what they try just no power in th grid ?
I think your ignoring NIO is a shame for the profession, you receive money from Tesla to promote it and you discredit or ignore NIO. But you know what? ! … you are not needed, it is better not to be in the spotlight and get stronger. Two years ago you said bankruptcy in less than a year and now NIO has $6 billion cash , Abu Dhabi owns 20% of the company and it is getting very strong in sales and also after a lot of moves it is expected to fundamentally improve in the coming year. In short, I think you are a disgrace to the profession because you are like a politician in the field. Choose what you like…And since NIO CEO previously talked about Tesla you are only discrediting NIO

In theory then, with the reasoning that technology companies will be the ones that survive, then Mitsubishi should be in a good position? They produce IGBT's that are required in the inverters for EV's, they also are involved in heavy industry such as power generation and they have also have plenty of experience in electronics, they should have all the resources on hand to shift to EV's piece of cake.
The idea that more tech and computer software makes a better car is a crock. The fact that manufacturers have access to your cars functions and can turn them off or on is not something i want, they are already doing it and charging a subscription for certain functions. The fact that it is possible to completely shut down or geo-fence your car is not something i am interested in. I will stick to any car with no over the air connectivity!

NIO
I just bought a Japanese EV. Honestly it made the same-priced Chinese rival next to it look like a toy. Twice the motor power and more than double the range.
This comes with a few caveats, for instance it has no boot, or seats…
Perfection gets in the way of good results ! ?
Remember in days past what MADE IN CHINA meant ? Maybe not what we do know about ice car manufacturers good RESULTS is RECALLS are a growth industry
I would say China is not going to look back moving forward as they are BECAUSE THEIR HARD WORK IS GOING TO PAY OFF BIG TIME.
They are not worried about spending money in that development……because when they will desperately need it…..their are going to buy it to these EV companies that need money to build their electric vehicles….and they desperately need that money.
That's what Aston Martin did with Lucid….. And Toyota one day will come around with some billions ( where are they coming from? No idea….they are -190 billion already) and buy Tec from china
