I'm cleaning also. Some of it really does need to go! I'm ready to put the outside to rest and focus inside. Thanks also for the comments made about how you can feel things can look a mess, yet knowing how nice it will be come again spring. Blessings!
I wish I could come visit you and touch all of your beautiful flowers πΊ π

Do you use bone meal with bulbs?
Love your videos! You are giving me courage to get some clean out done. Still miserably hot in zone 9b but a cool front is coming this weekend!

π so excited for those snaps. Hoping you get some blooms this year π€π€
Good morning. I must be an odd gardener because I don't mind taking things out, pruning things back and just making my gardens ready for the winter rest. I at this point am finished with the weeding and watering. As well as I like to make my garden fresh and not tired looking. So watching you makes me feel like I did the right thing. Have a wonderful day.

Thank you. I just bought snapdragons yesterday and I wasn't sure what they needed. Now I am confident for their winter care and looking forward to a great fall and spring bloom. Norma in Mendocino, CA.

My snaps that get shade do bloom throughout the summer, but they are smaller and sporadic. Hope this bed works better for you!

I'm glad you pruned your Don Juan roses like you did. Because i always over think it
Motivation boast received! Had to let those temps drop before I could even think about bed clean up. Soil too dry for me to fall plant cold hardies, hoping early spring will be good.β€

It's so satisfying to pull out old stuff! Makes everything feel so neat and tidy! Your snapdragons are the prettiest colors. It would be fun seeing them bloom along side the irises!
Thanks for the inspiration to clean out the beds and reminder to put in compost π
Hi thanks for the video tomorrow I will begin to clean up my garden and plant some bulbs.
That compost is luscious!
What height do the snapdragons that you planted out get? I prefer the more dwarf sized ones.

Hi Amanda another great video! You know as much as I love the beds filled with blooms, it seems after I have a good clearing out I can breathe better! Take care
My zinnias are still blooming like crazy and for the first time in my history with them, I do not see any white powdery mildew!! So, I'm letting them do their thing. All of my bearded irises that I divided and replanted seem to be surviving although the leaves don't look very healthy, but I see new shoots growing up from the rhizomes. That new snapdragon flowerbed is going to be gorgeous that you just planted.
π
I pulled out most of my zinnias a few days ago. They had succumbed to powdery mildew and looked terrible but did put on a beautiful show all summer.
Iβm glad to hear I can start some snapdragon seeds in the winter. I ordered seeds but got distracted by health issues before I could start them. By winter I should be back to 100% and ready to start all the seeds!!! πππ
Spring will be glorious
The snapdragons and iris are going to be beautiful in the spring. Clean up helps the garden, but I know itβs hard to pull plants.
Do you water the snaps throughout the winter?
