Orchids

If you’re hesitant to cut off the flower spike…

Sometimes if your orchid is in trouble, you may have to cut off the flower spike for the sake of the orchid's health, and that can be sad. BUT here's a reminder that the spike can still open buds after being cut! This spike had two flowers and a bunch of buds after I cut it. I took the original two flowers off so I could press them (I wanna make earrings) and this is a second flower that opened while it's been in the water! There is a third bud that is almost open as well. Two of the smallest buds blasted but the others look okay. It won't grow more or anything, but they usually have enough reserves to still open a bit more after being cut. So, when in doubt, cut it and enjoy the blooms in some water so your orchid can be happier!🌺🌱
