Lawn Care

Manual aeration is no joke

Only ~800 square feet, how hard can it be?

(12 hours later over the course of a week the work is complete)

I have that same exact hand aerator but don’t get cores anything like what I see there. They always get compacted in the tines and I have to drill them out to open things up again. Southern California clay. For what it’s worth, I’m envious of your progress. 👍

My clay soil is so compact that the entire rectangle of the aerator thingy just pulls up bricks of soil, I’m not even getting the tiny fishing bob dildo cylinders that you are

with that tool you used, of course, it’s brutal 😀

  4. Get a second one of these and just run around the yard for an hour

I have a little over 400 sqft and I did three passes over 2 days. Next time maybe 3 days. It really helped watering the lawn the night before. Had no problem pulling cores and only got a few rocks stuck in the tines.

They make aerator shoes. Just fyi.

Do you just leave the cores? Mine is about this size and juts about to order a hand aerater

Been there, done that. HATED it. It’s time to do it again and I’m seriously considering hiring it out. UGH.
