Set in Tokyo’s Suginami-ku neighbourhood, home to many manga artists, Open Sky House is home to artists and architect Zajirogh, his wife, and their three children. Having always dreamed of living in a camper or a ship, Zajirogh designed a large central open-air courtyard and covered it with a retractable sail-like sheet. The family uses the courtyard as a living room which is furnished with camping furniture that can get wet or be moved quickly if needed. A series of colourful walls line the courtyard, with precious items that need to stay dry kept behind a set of glass and steel sliding doors with another set connecting to the fully equipped L-shaped kitchen. The second story features space for the family to sleep, work and play and includes a 1sqm (small closet-sized) study that Zajirogh refers to as “his little sanctuary”. A door leading onto the balcony wraps around the open roof, this provides access to open and close the roof as well as an area for Zajirogh to paint freely without concern about mess.

amazing!!
I have a question and I'm not sure if anyone has an answer, but in Canada, kids of opposite sex require separate rooms after age 5. It's something we think about as we only have 2 bedrooms and 1 boy, and if we have another and it's a girl, I'm not sure if we'll have to eventually move…this looks like such a beautiful solution.
What a beautiful house ❤
dude it's not even that small in Hong Kong standard lol
How is it holding up with the recently heavy rains in Tokyo.
The man lives in a hovel and is trying to convince himself it's "art".
1:11 what app?
when he start, I thought it looks like a Ozu movie.
I like living space like this. It's unique yet real. Most of the time you see architectural showcase you just know it wouldn't work once you start living in it.
feeling like they are living in a real japanese comicbooks house i have always imagined
Love the design! I wonder what the restriction was that would prevent them from just putting a glass roof over the living room.
This is not too small house in Tokyo. He is rich.
So interesting. While I watch this, I find myself struggling with what I see as "clutter". My brain explodes with this business but I can see how some of it increases the richness of their lives. If I were to stay in this house I would have to sleep in the bathroom to calm my mind. Thankfully, everyone is different in how they perceive things. Thank you for this video.
So freaking cool!!
this is sooooo cooool
I love everything about this house and this Family !
this place is beautiful
My father once had a vision like this but sadly in Indonesia there are a lot of mosquitos
Why is there a camera in the children's room?
Kuća je arhitektonski zanimljiva i neobična, ali su stanari jako neuredni……molim vas, sredite malo, imate previše suvišnih stvari koje treba sakriti…..
Das sind niemals 57qm!!!
very cluttered and messy
The coolest japanese family!
How to get sunburned skin cancer inside your own home not to mention the accelerated sun bleaching of their furniture.
I love this house
This is not a small house.
The lesson here is make more money. Get a bigger home for a family of 5.
I still don't get the heating and cooling system. How do they not waste energy? And how about thieves?
Could have done without the looming TV or a projector perhaps but that open space is dreamy!
I love the design! I’d finish it differently with less stuff out but the bones of the place are great! Absolutely brilliant!
My favorite home ever and I have seen tons of this kind of videos. Such a peculiar, bright, optimistic place, very dynamical, warm and REAL. You can't actually fake warmth in your home as many think they successfully do 👀. The owners are true artistic souls you can tell that, very natural and lovely.
I really love this design because it allows you to feel like you are outside but you are actually inside. i think it's really cool but i also think too much space is lost above the living room. we can have more space for the kids with those spaces. I think this design is best for 2-3 people. still love it though very very cool
wow
that was a sweet home. i would have added even more cabinet doors to hide a bit more clutter & give it that clean feel that it needs, especially under the stairs, but i was truly in awe admiring every little details into it.
Goals 😍
this house would be GREAT.. for a childless couple. lol
"it feels great on the bear foot"
the bear: "thank you!"
why is there a camera in the kids room ?
this is not 57sqm.
57sqm is not small
So much different from us living in apartments cubicles here in Korea. Thoughts are different from beginning.
Wow ?!!
Everyone who complains about courtyeard, did you not hear him say it was to get around the size restriction? It had to be an opem outdoor area anyway
I don’t know what to feel. It feels like they found complicated solutions (like the speaker for TV) for problems they could easily avoid in the first place.
I just like that sky window above living room., the rest not my cup of tea.
