Fiddle Leaf Fig

Can we save her?

I think I did more harm than good to our FLF tree. Can she be nursed back to health or should I just attempt to propagate? Any other suggestions?

Backstory: over the last 4 months i think we unknowingly put her through hell.
My mom repotted our FLF thinking it had outgrown the previous pot and it was reaching beyond the 8 ft ceiling and leaning. Unfortunately she repotted it at an angle still and didn’t check for root rot.
I only speculate there was either root rot and/or some overcrowding with the leaves since some leaves occasionally browned and fell. I set it outside and pruned a bit (maybe too much). My mother was still watering it nearly every other day for 2 weeks 😕, until i told her about the root rot. It has clearly gotten worse.

Photo 1: Repotted and just before moved outside. It was lush, in a sunny comfy spot but probably already under some stress – leaning and sporadic watering (but probably overwatered at times).
Photo 2 & 3: 3 months later after being outside, pruned, and watered a bit more.

My mom FINALLY stop watering it and feels like the soil is still moist 3 inches down from the top. I am too worried to even take it out of the pot to check the roots.
