Hi all! I’ve had this ecojar going for a year and some change. It keeps booming in waves and I hadn’t checked on it within the last month and just did. When I looked, there was this new orange stuff? What is that?
No idea, I’m just learning about this and want to do one. I’m curious, where is the current coming from?

Worms, probably detritus worms, but I don’t know why they just showed up now.

They look like tubifex worms started doing ditritus worm stuff
BitchBass
The brownish stuff are diatoms.

Ditritus worms! A normal part of nutrient rich sediment and natures natural cleanup/recyclers!

Holy shit…is that worm doing the boogie???

Probably tubiflex or a related species. Most likely live in substrate but eat infusoria etc from water columb. Mostly benifficial, can become a bit of a plague if too much food for them. Maybe do a water change? You have quite a lot. Probably don’t want heaps more.

I have no clue what they are, but I’d love to look at em under my microscope 😁
