I have cats and 12 months back switched to a paper pellet litter. I go through a big bag of litter at least every week, and have been disposing of the used litter in a big pile on this pretty dry and barren corner of my yard.
Over the weekend I picked up 10 bags of horse poo and created the pile (pictured) layering each bag with an inch or two of cat litter. I also mowed the lawn and threw in some grass clippings for good measure.
I think it’s about 2′ tall so fingers crossed it gets up to temperature.
Given much of the litter has been sitting in the elements for a year, I am interested to see if it has already become sufficiently decomposed as to stop the pile really getting going.
