Just had the backyard returfed about 3 weeks ago and there are a few of these long, different looking bits popping up. The lawn it replaced was just a weed filled wasteland- are these hangovers from that? Will a weed and feed work? Should I get rid of them before the first mow?

If there’s only a few pull them by hand, but try to get the roots as well – pull from down low.
Anyone know the name of that weed? I have them too. A lot.
OP don’t pull this weed. It’s not a tap root type weed. It’s a ball of seeds and will spread if you pull it. You have to basically dig all around. Don’t let a single seed get away from you. Bin the dirt.
