Could anyone explain how to properly pollinate a cactus, including whether there are any specific techniques or tools needed, the best time of year to do it, and if there are any particular species of cacti that require special care or attention during the pollination process?”

Cacti in general don’t have specialized polination mechanisms or adaptations so it’s pretty straightforward
Just take pollen from one plant and put it on the stigma of another genetically different individual
Sometimes accessing the stigma is difficult because the anthers completely cover it so some people cut off the surrounding tepals with a razor blade to expose the stigma
Ps the purple gymnos can be degrafted and live on their own, if you wanted
