Horticulture Terrariums

Just got done finishing dartfrog vivarium.

So over the last few months I was growing and building my dart frog vivarium. Here's a showcase of how it turned out. Now time for dart frogs!

I was asked to provide some information. My build started exactly a year ago in October. Spent a few months building the hardscape.

After that I added plants and moss. I don’t know specifically what the scientific names are but they are very easy obtainable and maintainable plants. In front I have two patches of moss on the side. This is a mix of Java and Sphagnum moss. In the middle left I have two different fittonias and a begonia more to the font. I really can’t remember which one it is. And more the right side theres this big pinkish red plant which is another type of begonia. I have 5 bromeliads in this build. 3 Neoregelia fireballs and 2 Neoregelia tiger mini’s. Also I have a climbing plant but forgot what it was called. You can’t see it in the picture but I also have a pilea depressa growing on the ground. The rest of the moss is the same, just java and sphagnum moss.

Im using an LED for lighting. It can switch to purple lighting at night. For water I use a misting system. My mister sprays every 2 hours for 20 seconds. I use distilled water. We make it using a water distilling device. For the substrate we use a mix of aquasoil, coco fiber and tree fern. To explain, you usually buy a tree fern background. We just grinded it to small bits and mixed it with the soil. You really dont have to do this because fernwood is quite expensive.

Im using the exo terra dart frog vivarium which has a water drain in the middle. It’s 45x45x45cm or 18x18x18″.

That’s about it. I will take some time trying to figure out exactly what plants I have. I normally just choose random plants and see what works and what doesn’t. Luckily all the plants I picked for this one are more than happy.
