Bougainvillea propagation journey

There is a bougainvillea Tree where I live (it's that big). I noticed a growth had been halfway broken off so I decided it snip it and do a propagation experiment. The cutting I have is about 2 1/2 feet long and about an inch and a some change wide.

1- I cut it where it was snapped at angle
2- I cut off all new growth, new stems, new leaves, flowers
3- soaked the bottom 4 inches of cutting in water for about 15 minutes
4- dipped the bottom cutting into rooting hormone
5 – planted into a small pot with a mixture of coco coir, perlite, lava rocks, clay rocks and some basic potting soil
6- thoroughly watered pot and also sprayed down the actually cutting so it could take in some water that way
