Cactus

Repotted Mammi and co

Lemme know if I need to make adjustments. Pics in reverse order. I’m more familiar with caring for aroids than these guys. I think the light situation should be improved now and I’m also hoping repotting will help them thrive

Mammillaria was in a ~6” dish, no drainage and filled mostly with marbles (she was gifted that way). With how crowded it looked I found an 8” pot I thought would suit her and planned for 1:1:1 cactus dirt/sand/perlite

When I pulled her out of that dish, idk, the rootball seemed smaller than I expected so I filled the pot 50% with just perlite, then the other half was the 1:1:1 mix. The mix is still more than 1” deeper than the rootball. The new pot has drainage

I also repotted the cactus directly next to her and the roots were really small for it too. Is that just normal for cactus? I figured that other one would’ve had like a taproot or something a bit deeper than an inch or 2 to anchor it
