  1. Pop star is a hard one to beat, my pop start hasnโ€™t stopped blooming not even in the heat and going into fall he is covered in buds. Georgia zone 8a so we get blue blooms

  2. Thank you Matthew. I really like the trees you added to the front garden, as you said it balances everything out. ๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ™ƒ

  3. Iโ€™m sure you know the saying, first year sleep, second year creep, third year leap, so I wouldnโ€™t be too hard on the hydrangeas you just planted this year ? ๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ™ƒ

  4. I REALLY canโ€™t believe how much youโ€™ve gotten done since moving in ! Everything is looking very good especially considering the drought, rain I find is ALWAYS the best and makes plants really grow, when I hand water my plants survive but they donโ€™t thrive. ๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ™ƒ

  5. Oh my gosh ! I looked at the radar, as I was panning over to Va. to see whatโ€™s going on down by my daughter, holy moly if your in the area I panned over your getting hit very hard with rain ! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ ๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ’š Probably grateful for some rain but probably not that much all at once. ๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ™ƒ

  6. Everything looks great considering what our weather has been like here. I have started putting my garden to bed for the fall. It was just so sad looking after this heat. Thank you for sharing. โคโค

  8. Great seeing everything filling out, yes those new trees are more balanced. Your hard work is bringing its rewards. Cheers! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’ซ

  9. Hi, I love how your garden is coming along, particularly the front bed. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š The new blue lace cap hydrangea is amazing. I am sure that over here in the UK we will not be able to get it๐Ÿ˜ข.

  10. I literally used a chainsaw to cut down nine barks that were woody and lopsided in growth. I didnโ€™t care if they came back or not but now that they are coming back, I like them much better.

  11. The magnolia as a foundational piece makes so much sense! Great idea! Signed, a Southerner ๐Ÿ™ƒ

  12. Good evening Matthew, lovely video and information as always. I have ninebarks that are over 5 feet tall. Also have the little devil ninebarks. I have pruned both varieties back severely every fall. I have never had a problem, they always look so healthy and thrive all summer long. Thank you for sharing your garden, I am always looking for new ideas. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿงก๐ŸŒฟ

  13. I have a huge section of my yard that I am trying to fill up too. You have some great ideas. I do think that a straight staggered bed would look a little much. I like how you have left open areas so you can peek through and see other plants on the other side. It is difficult to deal with all the issues like will this match that, will it take the same amount of water, do I have to deep water rather than every day and how do I get different water needs to the same area. I will go outside and just stare at it until overwhelm takes over. LOL. You amaze me at how much you get done and have a full time job?!

  14. I have a 3 year old Eden, and let me tell ya.. you will have petals all over your garden but it's so worth it, the flowers and amount it produces are breathtaking

  15. Here in VA, we had more than 3 weeks of NO rain and 100 degrees or better. I simply could not work in that. The humidity was about 80% if we were lucky. I stopped watering with my hose and let the sprinkler system reach wherever it could. At the end of it all, lots of things had died or were very damaged. I decided to dig out whatever had done poorly and replant with drought tolerant, deer resistant plants. Itโ€™s pricey and hard work but worth it for the end results over time.

  16. Welcome to my world down in south Texas. To go without rain for a long time is the norm. I get so jealous of your beautiful roses and dahlias. Even during a drought they look good to me.

  17. Your front flower garden looks amazing with all the trees you have now. It gives the flowerbed a whole different dynamic.

  18. I'm not sure if you could find them in your area, but I just found a hydrangea called "early evolution". It's a panicle, but it starts blooms mid-late May and it looks very much like a lace-cap. It also only gets 2ft x 2ft so you can fit tons in an area

  19. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  20. Hi Matthew! Considering your weather. everything is still looking so pretty. I like the trees you are adding to the front flower bed. They really did improve the balance. I, also, like your ideas for changes in that bed. It will be so pretty. Your shrub bed is looking good. I could see the hydrangeas through the fence and they are still looking so pretty. The new rose will be pretty. I'm looking forward to seeing where you plant your new plants. Thank you so much for sharing!

  21. Last fall, I cut my pine barks down to the ground, and they are so beautiful this year. They both grew so much, I had to trim them back a bit this season. I recommend you cut the back to nothing. You won't be disappointed with the new look come Spring/Summer.
