First time wiring

Did I do good on my first time wiring on my first tree?

Will gladly accept any criticism.

  1. Those lower branches need some subtle bends, and in the future try not to leave any gaps in the wire. Also, do any of your bends go into the background? You want a 3D picture and right now it looks pretty flat.

It was good technique though to not wire the bottom two branches together. And generally your output has a pleasing design.

But I might have kept more branches and had them shorter. You really need more solar cells for thickening the trunk. It’s spring for you, right?

With spring, it might make sense to cut back your lower branches more and leave the leader to elongate as an escape branch to thicken the trunk.

  2. It’s neither right nor wrong but I think this tree could have been a good candidate for clip and grow, that is not using wires but using pruning to get the movement you want.
