Young nursery stock material from Barton Springs Nursery out in Austin. Picked these up for ~$15 a couple months back.
Trunks were wired for some movement. This is after a second round of checking and reapplying wire. Would welcome any feedback! Very new to bonsai.
First picture – blackjack oak (Q. marilandica)
* guessing I’ll end up cutting down somewhere on the trunk link many years from now (hoping these can backbud even from the corkier trunk)
* for now just arranged vaguely as a literati?
Second picture – Texas live oak (Q. virginiana var. fusiformis)
* grown from acorns from the treaty oak apparently
* tried to scrunch down and get some 3D twisting and bends into the trunk – looks kinda funky to me but it seems like that’ll become much less dramatic as it fills out many many years from now?
