Roots won’t leave net pot

Hey all,

I have an NFT system I use for lettuce. I run the lettuce in net pots, pots have a mix of hydrotin and cococoir.

My typical strategy is to seed up the net pots, top water the first time, wick watering every time after that until they’re ready for the system.

However, this batch just refuses to lower their roots. The bottom of my NFT trays and the bottom of the net pots have like a 1 cm gap that has to be covered by the root length. And they WILL NOT MAKE ROOTS. This method has worked every time I’ve run the system in the past.

Currently I have them standing in aerated water on top of a cookie tray so only the bottom of the net is touching the water, kind of a “mass-Kratky” minus the bucket.

Any tips? (Pics attached of successful roots that are currently in the system, and all of the ones that haven’t made roots in their setup)
